Delayed payment

Gotta love the bills still showing up from the Antenatal Center (for the NT scan), the lab (for the NT bloodwork), the anesthesiologist (for the D&C) all for a BABY THAT NO LONGER EXISTS! Gah! At least my insurance paid most of the fees. Apparently, my insurance is all for paying once there is a baby (or to get rid of a baby), but not to get a baby. Double argh!

Oh well, enough of that. We're off to my cousin's this weekend. So excited! My sister and I grew up with my two cousins (my mom had two girls; her sister had two boys) in the same town and we're all about the same age (my sister and my younger cousin are 3 weeks apart in age so were in the same class at school.) We're pretty close. Maybe not quite as close as brothers and sisters growing up in the same house, but pretty darn close. I'm the oldest of us 4. But, of course, I was the last to get married. And - if it ever happens - I'll be the last to have kids. (You'll not have a hard time believing that there's actually this little ticker in my head saying, "now my child will be x years younger than his/her cousins" where x has become a larger and larger number....sigh.)

My older cousin has 3 kids 5 years old or under. His youngest is my god daughter (yay! a girl to buy things for!). :-) My younger cousin has two boys 4 and 1 and my sister has two boys. My cousin's wife has two sisters and one of them has two kids. So, it will be all kids all the time tomorrow. And, even though I'm sure I'll think about what we don't have, I'll enjoy every last second I spend with them. And I totally mean that.

Can't wait to see my cousin's house too. They put an offer on their house the same night we made an offer on ours so we've been sharing contract and closing stories from hell. They had to sell their sweet place in Manhattan half a block from Central Park before they could buy out in the suburbs so they had been looking for a while, as we had been too.

Then we'll go Sunday for a tour of Mr.Right's undergraduate alma mater. He promises to give me and my parents the tour he used to give as an Orange Key guide! (2 points for anyone who knows what school :-) And then Mr.Right and I will head down the road a couple of hours to stay with my MIL Sunday evening.

So, it should be a nice weekend. Happy weekend to everybody and I hope those of you in the States enjoy your 3-day weekend!

  4. Blech about the bills. And, yeah, cousins are great! They're like siblings but you don't have anything to fight about. Sounds like a great time.

Uh ... Syracuse? Nope, not Syracuse. I just Googled it.
