Beta news

Wow. I'm not even sure how to start this post. So, I'll just put it up front: BFP. betaHCG 143 at 14dpIUI.

And, yes, I'm posting at 3:30 a.m. :-) Can't sleep. Neither can Mr.Right who is downstairs doing charts (he's hoping they will bore him back to sleep.) My parents are in the guest bedroom, having arrived this afternoon literally minutes before the call. I let it ring since my Dad and I were in the middle of carrying a humongous old bathroom mirror down the stairs and onto his truck for our run to the county dump.

Just as we were about to leave the house for the dump and various other selling-of-house related errands, I decided to look at my phone. No voicemail. Was this good or bad? I guess I'd always answered the beta call before. So, I called the main desk of our clinic and asked for our nurse or whomever might have just called me. She picked up immediately and said something to the effect of "you did it!" and was very excited for us. The last time she made a positive call to us (last September), she first asked me if I was sitting down. But this time I was so glad she just blurted it out. And last time, she gave a warning that at ~50 (I think that was the number) it wasn't particularly a good number. This time, 143 she said was good.

So, now, fingers crossed that things double (or double and a half?) by Monday when I go back for the next beta.

In the meantime, I had to play it super cool since we're not quite ready to share with our parents yet. In fact, both my parents and MIL know exactly the day of our IUI since they were all involved in Plan A to get me back home for the IUI after having gone to my MIL's to help her with her foot surgery the day before. But, they're not asking. Of course, I was the only one not having a vodka tonic or a glass of wine last night with dinner. But hopefully they just thinking I'm still abstaining in the 2ww.

Not quite sure when we'll tell them. I think it depends on what happens Monday and probably (maybe?) a few more betas next week before we leave Friday morning for a week's vacation.

So, anyhow, after talking with our nurse I texted Mr.Right. I knew he'd still be seeing patients so didn't want to call. He called me back almost immediately gushing with excitement (I think he was almost crying). So sweet! But I was standing in the kitchen while my parents were in the living room waiting for me so all I could say was "oh, you still have a few patients left this afternoon" "oh that's good" and "ok, we'll see you in a little while." I'm sure he was dying. LOL!

So, now we're doing the insomnia thing. We sometimes do this after a negative night after we've had all the yelling and crying out. But, I just can't get my mind to stop tonight. Wondering whether this will last. But at the same time, insanely happy that this may be finally happening. Ok, and in the back of my mind, wondering: are there 2 in there or just 1? (I'm guessing beta levels mean just one which is just fine.)

Off to sleep (hopefully.)
