Measures of Hope | 21 January 2011

+1. 30 days of Lovenox delivered today: that's hopeful, right? That this thing might last for another 30 days?

+2. Can you even believe that I've had to spill the beans already to two friends? I guess that means I have some positive thoughts about this pregnancy (or, I'm just crazy). Really, there wasn't a choice. As you might recall, just last Friday I finally pulled the trigger and booked a flight to Colorado for a long overdue (like 2 years overdue!!) skiing trip and to visit several friends in and around Denver. And then on Sunday, it became clear that there would be no skiing. And there's really no skiing now that I'm going to be on blood thinners! So, I had no choice but to call the friend whom I would have been skiing with and tell her that even though she'd been kind enough to take a day off to go skiing with me, it wasn't going to happen. The second friend called me today to sort out plans for next Saturday with that other friend and me and I had to tell her too. So, here we are at 4weeks and two good friends know already. Sigh. I had been known to say, since the last pregnancy disaster, that the next time I got pregnant I wasn't going to tell anybody I was pregnant until I delivered the baby. I guess that's not happening....sigh.

+3. I'm not going too crazy about the bloodwork and ultrasound on Monday. It will be what it will be. I doubt we'll see much on Monday and we'll just take it from there.

  1. 30 days - I like that. Measure your pregnancy in 30 days of Lovenox...

And I wouldn't worry about spilling the beans. I know that there's all kinds of reasons to not share, but there's also all kinds of reasons to have your friends know what's going on. No matter what, it's good to have people in your corner!

  2. I thinks its good that 2 people IRL know, perhaps it will be good support for you over the next few weeks. There is something funny about waiting to tell in that you are alone through the most anxiety producing parts of pregnancy. While I would not shout it from the roof tops just yet, I think letting a few close friends in on it will be good for you.
    have a good weekend.

  7. Crossing fingers that you saw more on today's ultrasound than you thought possible. And as far as the friends, I've said that, too, about telling nobody the next time. But I consistently flub that one:)
