Measures of Hope | 17 December 2010

+1. As my MIL likes to say, 'it's got to be 5 o'clock somewhere' as she reaches for her first vodka tonic of the day (and, really, it almost IS 5 p.m. here). Yummy leftover Beaujolais Nouveau in my hand.

+2. The progesterone fog is already clearing.

+3. Parents via Egg Donation Forum (more at http://www.pved.org) This actually happened yesterday but I forgot to write about it. About an hour before I got the BFN call I was reading blogs and found an announcement about the PVED forum. I signed up on line. (Premonition? No, just realism.) After my BFN call by about 1/2 an hour (I had at least stopped crying), the very nice woman who runs the forum called me to verify my identity and welcome me to the forum. In this day and age of rarely actually speaking live with other people (e.g. amongst us bloggers for the most part) it was a little startling to get an actual phone call. But it was great. She really encouraged me to delve into the forum and said there were all kinds of people with all kinds of experiences there to rely on. I'm excited to get started.

+4. Beautiful blue-sky day on the white, white snow. Snow melted off the black roads. Perfect.

+5. Just got off the phone with my Dad. Talked for 20-30 minutes. My Dad isn't much of a phone talker (really, I'm not either). But sometimes you catch him just right. Like today as my Mom was out shopping. We talked about house projects, curious car noises and what to do about them, Jessie and her cousin Strider (2 y.o. black Lab) and how they're going to enjoy spending Christmas together at our house and the harrowing thought (to both of us) of my sister's family's Christmas airplane trip to Colorado with a 3.5 and 1 year old in tow. I love my Dad.
